I'm using Photoshop to make vector grapihcs. Should I use Illustrator?

Basically, lately I have been using Photoshop and the Pen tool to trace around logos. People give them to me, I scan them in, and just pen them up.

Now I eventually want to learn Illustrator, but I just don't have the time.

My question is, all I wanted to do was a basic tracing, is it the same process as with photoshop, and using th pen tool? Thanks.
