Somebody else posted this same question. So I'll give you my answer:

I do stuff like this often. You don't need to bother with cutting and pasting. This sounds like it'll be a lot of work, but it will take you no longer than a minute (maybe two if you're slow). This technique will help you 100 fold if you take the few minutes to learn it!

1) Select the layer the paper is on.

2) Create a layer mask

At the bottom of the 'Layers' palette, there is an icon to "create layer mask." a layer mask is something you use to hide parts of an image without deleting them.

3) select the brush tool.

The brush settings determine how much you are going to mask out. I usually set it to black. You can also change the size and feather the edges of the brush if you go to the options (near the top right of the screen).

4) Set the opacity.

The opacity also determines how many clicks it will take to mask what's under the brush. If the color is black, and the opacity is 100%, it will mask out 100% in one click. If it's set to 50% it will make your click 50% transparent. I usually set it to 20% and click a bunch of times where I want the mask, it makes for a more natural blend, not such a harsh border.

You pretty much want to mask out the part of the paper where the fingers are. And what's great about masking, you can always change the color to white to bring back anything you masked accidentally!

Good luck
