When Im opening up a new document in photoshop, and simply want to select white as the background it keeps coming up in a manila off white color. Even when the hexidecimal for this "off white" is indeed ffffff...its not white. does anyone know why this is happening?

do other white things actually look white on your monitor... could be something wrong with the Adobe color calibration... do regular photos opened in Photoshop look "right"? could be your monitor settings...
