Photoshop layers--help please!?

I'm working coloring a picture in photoshop. When I erase color on the 2nd layer it also erases the color from the 1st layer. How do I keep erasing on the top layer from erasing color from other layers?

I presume you are trying to convert to greyscale mode. That will convert the entire file. To convert just a single layer to greyscale:

1) select the layer

2) press %26lt;CTRL%26gt; %26lt;SHIFT%26gt; %26lt;U%26gt;. (pc) or %26lt;COMMAND%26gt; %26lt;SHIFT%26gt;%26lt;U%26gt; (mac)

Or use the channel mixer in monochrome mode to fine tune your greyscale version. I would do the latter.

You might have the two layers "linked" together -- if so, when you click one layer in the layers palette, a little chain icon will show up in a little box on the linked layer in the layers palette. Click the chain icon to make it go away, and then you can edit the one layer without affecting the other one.
Make every colour a new layer, that way you can delete just one colour, in the layers palette
im not sure if i remember but

on the lower right side there should be like layers %26 stuff.

make a new layer and edit the other layer you need to edit

%26 btw how did you get photoshop %26 was it free?

cause i wanted one but idk where to get it.

thank you.
try locking the first layer. there should be a lock icon in the layers panel. or i believe u can probably right click the first layer and lock it from there.
