Photoshop 7.0 problem?

I am trying to cut out a dvd picture in photoshop and then paste it onto a white background. I'm trying to use the polygonal lasso for this, but I need to take my time to be as accurate as possible and if I draw a line, then click the mouse and then take more than 5 seconds or so to draw the next line, the computer just assumes the shape that I want which is completely inaccurate. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

If you want a perfectly cut out picture, you could try zooming photoshop or even paint to something like 300% and then erase manually. It takes a lot of time but the results are always amazing compared to other tools that will assume what you want and you don't

The easiest way to do this is zoom in and use the magnetic lasso tool if you don't know where it is just right click on the lasso tool and you will see it in the menu, thats what a lot of renderers use to cut out pictures it works better if you just cur out so much at a time you will get a cleaner cut that way
Use the path tool instead. Get the path palette open, create a new path and use the tool to cut out your image-it's a vector line so you can edit it. When you've closed the path, go to the path palette, select 'make selection' then inverse the selection and press delete.
