I am using the brush tool in Photoshop CS2 with a Wacom. I have opacity and flow set to 100%. My foreground color is red, my background black. When I paint on a new layer over the background, I get pressure sensitive painting (which I want). However, if I go over an area I've already painted, it lightens instead of staying the same color. How can I disable that?

check other options on bar, like spot healing and mode,

Double check the layer mode in the layers palette and make sure it is on normal and not on another setting.
