PHOTOSHOP CS3 ERROR MESSAGE : Could not complete your request because the layer is locked?

HIya all, I have little knowledge of photoshop

Evertime I try to drag/drop an image to my project, I get this message: Could not complete your request because the layer is locked

when I tried to bring my image from adobe bridge to a new document,it creates another new document(has also became a background %26 locked Instead of a layer) instead of bringing the image to the new document i am working with. could you guys please tell me how to fix it and how to prevent it happend again. THANK YOU ALL!!!!!

Before you import your image into photoshop, you need to create a new layer and then import into that new layer.

What i usually do is duplicate the layer which is locked. There will be a lock nxt to the layer indicating that it is locked. Just drag the locked layer to the icon "create new layer" and immediately a copy of the locked layer is created. You can delete the locked layer by dragging it to the trashcan. And once done u can do anything you want.
