Photoshop website Help?

Ok Im starting to make a website in photoshop, what width-height pixel size should I start out with?

Whatever you want. I usually start with a canvas of 1500px wide and 800px tall and adjust as I go. It's not like the size of your canvas will dictate the width of your design when you actually create the page...

Of course, it can get a little cumbersome if your canvas is larger than your screen. If you have a smaller monitor, try going with something smaller.

720 pixels by 480pixels
I start with PhotoShop using a 770 wide x 550 high pixel canvas.

After I complete my design, I slice it up using ImageReady. Make sure to crunch those images as much as possible yet maintain their quality!
About 770 pixels wide. The height matters less (since I don鈥檛 think its terrible to scroll downward). The key is to make sure visitors do not have to scroll horizontally (because most people hate that).

Explanation: The most common screen resolution is 1024x768 (over half of the population uses this size, according to the W3C). But a lot of people still use 800x600 (about 14%); so you want to make sure the 800x600-monitor-users do not have to scroll horizontally. Since scrollbars and window borders (which are all called 鈥渂rowser chrome鈥? take up about 20-30 pixels, a safe width is around 770 pixels. Make sure you set your web page鈥檚 margins to zero (to absolutely guarantee no unwanted horizontal scrolling).
