Photoshop cs2 help?

just got photoshop and i have no idea what im doing really.



said to a mate that id have a go and do a picture for her, where i cut the people from one photo and put them on a different background, but i dont know how to do it, and when ive tried messing about with it it looks like some serial killer has hacked away at the picture.



can some nice person please tell me how to cut these people from one photo so they dont look butchered, and put them on a different background.

YOU CAN DO IT 2 WAYS. Use the magnetic lasso tool to outline the people in the picture. Then click on edit copy. Get a new background then paste the people on a new layer. Or you can magnetic lasso people, inverse selection and delete the background.

theirs the pen tool where u have to move outline ur friends and and yeah delete the rest and just put them over a background i did that but i dont know that much about photoshop i just know how to import copy paste pen tool and little bit more
Dude, you can create a duplicate of the source image. Place the new background image below the original background. Note that all images will be locked when you open it for the first time. You need to unlock by doubleclicking the locked layer in the layer's window. that's F7 for a shorcut key.
